MessageThis is a conundrum for the OP. We oppose extortion by lawyers and so-called 'victims' who use this system to their own means, but at the same time if we don't show faith in our judiciary system, it could lead to a full-spectrum lack of faith for all crimes and decisions. The OP will consider this matter in our current caucus.

MessageFrankly, this is rediculous - this legislation will allow exploitation by money-grabbing lawyers and greedy opportunists. Doctors and surgeons will be so terrified of being sued for all their worth that they won't be able to perform their jobs properly without enormous stress.
The LDP claim that we should have 'faith' in the discretion of the judge - the RHP has absolutely zero faith in the discretion of any judge, as precedent has not given us any reason to have faith. Judges regularly - almost consistently - make poor decisions when left to their own judgement, allowing the most hardened criminals to spend a minimal amount of time in prison or to even walk free, on occassion. Judges regularly fail to provide justice.

MessageOnly a medical regulatory body can prosecute a doctor for malpractice.

The lack of faith in the judiciary shown by The Rutanian Heritage Party is most disturbing especially as they hold the Justice position in the current cabinet. As they are in charge of the courts, should they so openly criticise themselves in open debate?

MessageThe LDP are assuming that, because the RHP holds the Justice portfolio in the current cabinet, we have control over the rulings every judge makes - this is simply untrue. We are not criticizing ourselves, but the 'judicial activists' that plague this nation's courts, running their own agendas, making decisions that are contrary to the interests of justice, victims, and the general public. This is not a problem we are currently equiped to deal with - it is a structural and systematic problem with the nature of how the law is carried out in courts. We do not believe judges should be left entirely to their own will in making rulings and decisions - given the consistent mistakes they make, which are often tantamount to miscarriages of justice - but for the time-being, that is how it is.
