Message | Though committed to free trade we cannot support Article 1. In inter-state economy there are needs for such tariffs for several reasons (to mention only a few: protection, economic pressure on other states, economic partnership with others etc.) Nevertheless we shall support Article 2 if it remains alone in this piece of legislation. |
Date | 13:07:43, September 16, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Heritage Party | To | Debating the Foreign Policy Bill |
Message | We fervently oppose this legislation and both of its Articles: Article 1 removes any support for Rutania's domestic industries, subjecting them to the trans-national vulture-capitalism of international competitors and essentially signing a death warrant for hundreds of factories and businesses and thousands of jobs that will go off-shore, for the sake of fairly dubious long-term 'economic benefits'. Furthermore, opening Rutania's markets unreservedly to the world allows other nations to exploit its economy, and will foster a state of interdependence which is dangerous to Rutania's national interests, security and sovereignty. Article 2 will open Rutania's doors to the thousands of destitute migrants from third-world countries who will leap at any opportunity to exploit our relatively generous welfare system and economy. Not only this, but migrants from many countries which are poor and stricken with war bring their problems with them, including crime and poverty, placing an unfair and unecessary burden on Rutanian society. Depending on the compatibility or difference of their cultural heritage, migrants from many countries also fail to integrate properly into Rutanian society, undermining social cohesion and causing cultural fragmentation and inevitable tensions between groups. It is imperative, therefore, that any legal immigration policy take into account the nationality of migrants and regulate intake and quotas accordingly, as migrants from some nations and cultural groups are far more easily assimilated than those of others. This is not to mention the obvious problems of over-crowding and over-population that will result from an 'open-borders' immigration policy. There are absolutely no grounds on which the NDPR can justify this ludicrous notion. |

Message | Article 1 removed as we feel it has a greater chance of success if it is voted on independently. It is a great dream of the NDP to see an open-market throughout our allies and trade partners. The opportunity to establish open trade is one in which we cannot pass up. |
