Message | This legislation seems sensible - after all, space-exploration projects consume billions of dollars, and tax-payers shouldn't be made to foot the bill, especially when their money isn't being spent on things that directly benefit them. Sub-contracting private space-exploration firms will allow a more effective and efficient space-exploration industry, and - most importantly - will be less of a burden on tax-payers. |
Date | 16:11:35, September 16, 2009 CET | From | Liberal Democratic Party | To | Debating the Space Act |
Message | We strongly oppose this bill. The Liberal Democratic Party are firm believers in having a national space agency, the achievements of which should be enjoyed by all Rutanians, not by private companies. |

Message | The achievements of private space-travel companies can be shared by all Rutanians, as well - no less than they could be if it were a State-owned agency. The LDP seem to be implying that the federal government and the people of Rutania are one in the same, or that their interests are identical, where it is only private companies that have their own seperate interests - this is a rediculous assumption to make. The only difference will be that billions of tax-payers' dollars won't be sunk into the black-hole of publicly-owned space-travel spending, for something that will give relatively little return - the glory of seeing a Rutanian rocket fly into space is certainly something all Rutanians can relish, but this alone cannot justify the enormous amounts of public-money needed for a State-owned program. We are beginning to wonder what sort of 'liberal' party it is that advocates gigantic, centralized government; State-owned space programs; a partially State-owned economy; an enormous welfare-State; and federal government intervention and regulation in almost every aspect of Rutanian society. The old liberal thinkers would surely be rolling in their graves. We think 'Communist People's Party' would be a more suitable name. |
