Message | The CoS would like to point out that this legislation does not deal with a minimum or living wage, but simply government handouts to the lazy and the incompetent. |

Message | Why does it say it deals with minimum wage in the heading then? Also from reading, there is no mention of those who wont work |

Message | (This one is fairy confusing, but it does apply to unemployment benefit, hence the bit "All adults not supported by another person...". The phrase "minimum income" here refers to the unemployment benefit, in the sense that people will receive a minimum ammount of money from the government when unemployed, rather than being left with none) The JLSP, perhaps predictably, opposes this bill. If not only because unemployment is not always soley through choice, and the government can not abandon such people, or leave them at the mercy of unethical employment practises just to survive. |

Message | The OSP believes that "laziness" and "incompetence" are usually used as insults towards the working class from ignorant members of the middle classes. People when provided with the necessities of life (not just food, water) become motivated and worthwhile human beings, this is what we should strive for, nobody is owed an income but we owe it to our society not to let unemployed and disabled people slip through the cracks. |
