Voting deadline: September 2825

Description[?]:

Article 1
In order to guarantee that the energy generated by the generation facilities is forwarded to the energy consumer suppliers in a cost effective and service guaranteed way, the National Grid will be operated by a publicly owned company. This company can guarantee infrastructural safety and service quality more readily than the Private company due to its ability not to have any requirement to return high levels of profits to its investors and shareholders.
The company will operate in such a way so as to provide the infrastructure and energy delivery services at, or just above, cost so as to allow the largest freedom for energy consumer suppliers to guarantee the lowest possible charges to the consumer.

Article 2
In order to guarantee the production of power within the Country, but also to allow the advantages of the Private Sector when providing the final product to the consumer, the Government will own and operate the primary source of energy production whilst allowing Private Industry to operate the service to the consumer.
This guarantees that the infrastructure is kept under Government control whilst also guaranteeing that the costs of producing electricity for the National Grid is kept to a minimum.

The energy bought from the National Grid will be purchased by Private Companies which will be allowed to compete with each other to provide the highest possible service provision to the consumer. To this end, there will be limited regulation on the maximum costs, so as not to make power a utility that is only available for the select few, but within the guidelines, competition is free and open.

Should private individuals wish to produce their own power for their homes, through the use of houseboard generators/solar panels etc, they are freely allowed to do so. They may also sell any left over energy production to the National Grid at a price agreed by the two parties.

Article 3
Until such time as clean and renewable sources of energy are cost efficient and highly productive the Government will require that the majority of power produced for the National Grid, by both Publicly owned and Private Power Generators, be provided by Nuclear Powerstations.
Nuclear Powerstations produce less harm to the environment than fossil fuel alternatives as well as being cheaper (in the long term) to operate, and capable of providing more power using less material than alternative forms of generators.

MessageThis is economic suicide. This is an expression of this government's distrust in the organized power of the market and the price mechanism which does most things more efficiently than the public sector. Regulation as regards the source of energy fuels is not required as consumers can be environmentally and cost conscious and choose for themselves. This is an insult to the intelligence of Hobrazians.
