MessageWe see this as a fairly trivial matter. However, while we don't consider this an issue that the federal government needs to address - or even an issue that the federal government should have anything to do with - we see no real reason that the national anthem should not be played at the commencement of each school day as an homage and a simple token of respect for Rutania - patriotism is, afterall, one of the great virtues that binds citizens together in brotherhood and fellowship, contributing to a sense of belonging and heightening social trust and cohesion.
We have a suspicion that the Liberal Democratic Party is proposing this legislation not out of genuine concern for the welfare of Rutania's people, or for any practical consideration, but for purely ideological reasons - it has always been the way of leftist and liberal parties to diminish the importance of anything that shows any sign of patriotism or affection for national culture.
We oppose this legislation.

MessageWe propose this exactly as a practical reason, why waste minutes of every day, which add up to many over the years, singing a national anthem. Very few nations in Terra sing their anthem every day, I believe we are a patriotic nation and do not need to do this every day.

MessageEven so, the LDP have not presented a substantial argument for the breaking of a proud tradition - their argument so far has been "what's the point?". This could essentially be applied to anything, and in any case it would not be a valid basis for policy.
We contend, what's the point of eliminating the national anthem in schools if it costs nothing and may have some benefit? If it's not broke, don't fix it. Furthermore, many Rutanians, who are perhaps more sentimental and proud of their national icons than members of the LDP, do not view the singing of our national anthem as a "waste" of "minutes". Though one does not have to sing the national anthem - merely a symbol - to want what's best for one's country, it is through this symbollic gesture that citizens feel a collective gratitude for Rutania, and, in doing so, feel bound together by heritage, culture and creed, and aiding cohesion.
If "very few" nations in Terra sing their anthem every day, that's their own prerogative, but this should have no implications for Rutania as a sovereign nation. Each nation has its own distinct cultural heritage, and its own perspective on things that is shaped almost entirely by the events of its history - how can we compare Rutania to any other nation, given the base fact that no nation is the same? Again, 'other nations aren't doing it' is not a valid argument.

MessageWe see this as step back. Children should not be 'forced' into supposed national pride by being made to sing it at all.

MessageThe DPR have decided that the wording of this bill is too vague and cannot vote for a bill that requires children to sing the national anthem.
