Bill: Citizenship Act of 2834
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Elitist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2835
Description[?]:
Argumentation: The REP is proposing this bill in order to prevent dangerous elements getting Rutanian citizenship. We do not wish to restrict severely the possibility of someone to get Rutanian citizenship but we believe that a basic test would filter people with criminal records and such unpleasant individuals to gain citizenship. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy concerning granting citizenship.
Old value:: Citizenship is granted to all nationals.
Current: Citizenship is granted to all nationals.
Proposed: Citizenship is gained by passing a qualifying exam.

Date | 07:03:14, October 18, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Elitist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship Act of 2834 |
Message | It is only a review of the credentials by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. |

Message | The PPR humbly apologise to the REP, we understood the qualifying exam to be a written examination and not a review of credentials. We still cannot support this bill as this sort of legislation leads to the legislation the PPR fervently and admittedly, incorrectly, opposed above. |
Date | 12:13:35, October 18, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Elitist Party | To | Debating the Citizenship Act of 2834 |
Message | We accept the decision of the PPR and we also apologise for the unclear statements. |

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost. |
