MessageThis bill does not ban nor suprress religion but simply requires that religion stay out of government funded or sponsored activities. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that every child receives a fair and well rounded education. The only purpose that religious schools serve over and above the public school system is to instill the religious values of that thiestic realm. Religions are more then welcome to teach these religious values at a seperate time. In a traditional school setting, focus should be on basics needed to survive in today's world. Math, science, english, and the social sciences are losing out in religious schools so that the focus can be on thiestic teachings.

MessageThe government merely permits religions to create schools, besides that the government has nothing to do with those schools besides making sure that the students who attend them get a decent education.

MessagePeople should be allowed the freedom to send their kids to these places if they so wish. We wouldn't want to limit their pesonal freedom...

MessageWe feel that this is a good idea, while we support the right of people to be religious if they choose, religious ideas such not be passed off as facts in schools. There are thousands of issues when education is put behind religion in religious schools, evolution vs creationism, theories on creation of the universe, human rights, law and order. Religious schools cheat the children sent there out of a good education. As a member of the International Secularist Society and founder member of the Promotion of Science and Reason the People's Equality Party supports this bill.

MessageSo you just replace one dogma with another?

MessageAs the bill stands, it does not support any dogma but instead changes policy so that children are only taught facts during their impressionable years. Religious schools promote ideas that have no basis in fact or logic and these ideas should not supercede sound, everyday learning of math, science, english and the social sciences. If a religion chooses to spread its dogma, it should do so at more appropriate time so as to not impede on the rights of the children to learn more necessary skills.

MessageThe Chaos Party and the People's Equality Party obviously do not know that there is more than one type of religious school. There are, for example, Yeshivas, where Jews go to study the Tanakh; there are Quaker schools where students recieve quality education alongside respect for others.

We reccommend that you do some research into them.
