Bill: Survival at Minimum Wage
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rationalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2133
Description[?]:
Very few people working for minimum wage will work full time hours, thus, under current legislation, they would eventually fall into poverty and die (as they would not be making a subsitence wage). In order to prevent this, we would support a slight increase in the minimum wage |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation.
Old value:: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a single full time worker on it can adequately subsist.
Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
Proposed: There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a full time worker on it can support a family of four without falling under the poverty line.

Message | They can't support themselves currently, I don't especially like this, but I don't want people dying while they attempt to get the skills they need for a better job |

Message | Then it means, that our government is providing enough jobs, which means something may be wrong with the economy, which means. Aside from the fact giving away more money would make it worse, the person can go on welfare, and will stay, so long as the person actively pursues a job in his skill list. |

Message | Currently it is better to be on welfare than to have a less than full time minimum wage job... how's that good for the economy? |

Message | It isn't better currently to be on welfare benefits than to have a minimum wage job as the benefit system is geared to ensuring that people find a job. I fyou read it you will remember that they are paid a basic income but that this does not exceed 6 months. Therefore it would seem to me to be better to have that job!! |
