Bill: Sin Tax Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Traditionalist Liberty Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2840

Description[?]:

The Traditionalist Liberty Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Pontesian Dynastic Empire.

Kill the income tax.

We believe only certain products should be taxed to fund the federal government. These products include alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, and (if legal) prostitution and recreational drugs. By implementing reasonable taxes on items that people should limit their use to anyway, the government will recieve a small amount of money to operate, plus the use of bad goods and services will be curbed.

We believe that this tax should be reasonable so that people do not resort to the black market and purchase items from other countries.

No tax is a good tax, but this is about the closest thing.

(OOC: we understand that this bill taxes all things luxury, but for the purpose of this nation, we would like to say that it is just on the listed goods.)

Random quote: "John Burroughs has stated that experimental study of animals in captivity is absolutely useless. Their character, their habits, their appetites undergo a complete transformation when torn from their soil in field and forest. With human nature caged in a narrow space, whipped daily into submission, how can we speak of its potentialities?" - Emma Goldman
