Voting deadline: September 2044
Description[?]:
We support giving the police of this fine and noble the freedom to 'torture' suspects at their discretion, as opposed to being shackled by political correctness. First off, let us remove the nasty image of the word torture and replace it with interrogate - this simply gives police to be more aggressive during interrogations, dont worry there will be no rack or cat o' nine tails involved! Basically, this allows police to 'rough up' suspects in order to get information. Some examples: - some teenagers are found smoking a joint. If the police officer has the option to use violence (obviously, the amount will be upto the officer and I am certain we can trust the police not to go OTT) to see where they got it from and crack down on dealers. - A small-time terrorist, maybe just a terrorist sympathiser is caught. If we give police the option to torture them we can prevent atrocities that kill thousands. In conclusion, we should trust and respect our police enough to give them this option. Having to fill official forms and follow all this buearocracy as the current legislation says wastes everyones time - in these circumstances speed is of the essence. |

Message | The current legislation is unpractical and unworkable. Give police the rights, instead of giving criminals the rights. |

Message | Police don't have rights, except as individuals. And what's more, you don't have to be a criminal to be interrogated under your proposal, just a suspect. |

Message | Well duh. Why torture someone who has already been convicted? This is not a punishment this a way to find out info. As I said time is of the essence, by the time a terrorist has been tried, appealed and whatever else a tragedy may have occured in Dorvik. |
