MessageFinance Minister's statement on changes in the new federal budget:

Head of Government: As pointed out last budget, this reflects the growth of the Senate to 500 members.

Foreign Affairs shall be increased as aid to Kirlawa will undoubtedly go up at some point during its reconstruction. The damage from the recent conflict there has not been excessive, but they will still require aid.

Internal Affairs: Many calls have been made to increase police funding and the amount of police rather than put new legislation into place. Therefore the budget has been increase a good bit to reflect these changes.

Finance: As we run no central bank there is really no need for the ministry to have such a large budget. We do not use it all.

Defence: There have been no changes in this area. Money will still be made available for armament and research. There has been no growth or decrease in the size of the armed forces.

Justice: No changes. This will most likely increase in the next budget to reflect the parallel increase at Internal Affairs. More police more than likely means more arrests and more court cases.

Infrastructure and Transport: An increase was asked for from the ministry. Solid infrastructure is the key to a solid economy.

Health and Social Services: This is the first decrease to the normal operating budget of 188,000,000,000.

Education and Culture: A slight increase for grants to local governments.

Science and Technology: Same budget for technology grants and clean automobile tax incentives.

Food and Agriculture: A decrease to make room for the above increases.

Environment and Tourism: ""

Trade and Industry: We do not run any industries and as we do not act as an investor of last resort, then we do not need such a sizeable budget. There will likely be no further decreases here in the immediate future.

Many thanks to the ministries who cooperated with the formation of this budget and to the LDP's prior Finance Ministry for helping us to work out these figures.

-Hanna Minke, Finance Minister, Commonwealth of Rutania

MessageWe thank Senator Minke for keeping the crux of the LDP budget proposals. There are aspects that we find disappointing though. It is baffling to our Senators and wider membership that the other parties in Rutania have so little regard for the environment. The budget in this area should be increasing each successive proposal - certainly not decreasing.

Education funding must come from local taxation? Because the current funding the department gets is extremely low for a population of Rutania.

MessageYes, in the past the vast majority of the education budget came from local governments. And this is a return to that system in the expectation that the Return to Independent Education Act passes.

Each commonwealth also maintains 100,000 reservists and their equipment, thereby allowing us a much smaller defense budget in proportion to the size of our armed forces.
