Message | Illegal to deficit spending? Is that not a little extreme? Assume that one year or some month a disaster occurs, or an economic crisis strikes or some such catastrophe... Should we not spend as much money as is necessary? Even if we must give a bit of a deficit, we can easily regain the losses later on... The government shall demonstrate fiscal responsability... but not to such a point that we would be avaricious in the spending of public monies. |

Message | We like the spirit of this law, but there should be an allowance for emergencies, be it a natural disaster or an economic crash or a war. With an exception for emergencies, to be decided by the General Assembly, we would be in favor of this. |

Message | Please allow some months before putting a bill to vote ... for the sake of the debate. I'm not against an anti-deficit law, provided there is some clauses to give some flexibility. The proposed resolution is not enough precise. OOC: In real life, my governement has one and that has not stopped the debt from increasing because there is loopholes :( |

Message | We cannot make deficit spending illegal. We have no way of knowing what events might occur in the future. We cannot doom ourselves by making deficit spending illegal, only to suffer a sudden downturn in the economy (OOC: I mean like on the level of the Great Depression). |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
