Bill: Slander Act 2132.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal-Progressive Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2132

Description[?]:

This bill will reduce the amount of false claims, and to avoid the "clogging" up of courts with minor slander cases. Only those that are deemed malicious or slander committed as an attempt to personally harm the personal lives of the victim can take action in a court of law against the slanderer or slanderers.

MessageThis sounds fair. False claims cost time and money, though we would like a clause stating that should a slander case be taken to court, and found to be untrue, than the person gets a fine (determined by the court).

MessageWe see no real difference between the two except that the proposed one will allow people to sue against "defamatory opinions". The present system only allows "malicious falshoods" so your reason for change is void.

MessageUpon further consideration, we support the UB position on this. This change in the law would lead to more court cases than currently happening.
