Bill: No More Head of State
Details
Submitted by[?]: Tuesday Is Coming
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2136
Description[?]:
From the President-Councillor, Our Lady the Priestess: It is an honored tradition in Lodamun for the head of state to work to abolish the position. To this degree I propose one of two options. Either we a) make the Head of State and Head of Government the same person, to the degree that we have a democratically elected Head of Government. Or b) we institute(for game mechanics purposes) a "hereditary" head of state with the name "There is no head of state". I am willing to support either option. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Structure of the executive branch.
Old value:: The Head of State and Head of Government are two separate officials.
Current: The Head of State is also Head of Government.
Proposed: The Head of State is hereditary and symbolic; the Head of Government chairs the cabinet.

Message | a) make the Head of State and Head of Government the same person, to the degree that we have a democratically elected Head of Government. I support this option. Not the other. |

Message | Given the current trend, I expect some of the others to support (b) but not (a) |

Message | a) make the Head of State and Head of Government the same person, to the degree that we have a democratically elected Head of Government. This gives us a presidential system, with a stronger head of state in effect, and removes the abiltiy for parliament to select the head of government. In effect, it means centralization and a head of state/govt with MORE power than the current elected powerless figurehead. b) is fine, and that's why the Greens have always voted for the monarchy. A non-hereditary symbolic head of state is ideal. |

Message | The current proposal I have up is the "hereditary NPC" option. If this passes with that option, the name/title of our HoS shall be: There is no Lodamese Head of State. |

Message | Actually, if the HoS was named 'The Lodamese Constitution' we would support, and also if we drafted up a constitution... |

Message | Um... Are you being serious? A constitution is not a head of state. |

Message | How does a piece of paper recieve foreign dignitaries? How does a piece of paper sign treaties and wave from the side of the road at parades? How does an extremist party defame and attempt to assasinate a piece of paper? How does a piece of paper commit oral sex scandals? |

Message | Well, I was unaware that a constitution was capable of giving oral sex, perhaps it can recieve, though I dont see the point. |
