Message | The RHP oppose every Article in this legislation, and will therefore vote against it. The RHP opposes Articles 1-3 because they aim to arbitrarily strip local governments of their authority and autonomy, concentrating the power of the federal government without due purpose. In short, if an issue can adequately be managed by local governments, why should the federal government have any involvement at all? Generally speaking, government closer to home is more responsible and accountable government, as it will better reflect the concerns and needs of local communities. We oppose Article 4 because population control is one of the most insidious abuses of government power in history. The RHP do not recognize the federal government's mandate to engineer and artificially alter Rutania's society against its natural path for any reason - for it to do so is virtually tantamount to viewing human-beings as mere resources. The RHP oppose Article 5 because we firmly believe that corporal punishment is often the only means through which misbehaviour can be corrected, as many young children rarely respond positively to simply being counselled or admonished. Furthermore, we do not subscribe to the erroneous assumption that physical punishment of every kind will cause emotional damage to children. We believe this issue should be left to the discretion of individual schools so that any decisions made will reflect the concerns of local families and parents, rather than imposing a universal ban based only on fallacious viewpoints. We oppose Article 6 for several reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, women are not endowed by nature with the same physical and mental capacities as men to cope with the strains of combat, and these biologically in-built distinctions between men and women must be recognized. Allowing women to serve alongside men will dramatically diminish the strength of Rutania's military - this is not a matter for equal opportunity, but realism and common sense. Secondly, allowing women to take combat roles in Rutania's military will disrupt cohesion and cause an unnecessary distraction, for obvious reasons. A military that is not united and focussed is a military incapable of adequately defending Rutania in the event of a threat. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
