Bill: Privatized Waste Act.
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal-Progressive Union
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2133
Description[?]:
This allows private companies to handle the waste pickup. The companies can provide more employment, and better wages then the government can provide. With private waste disposal companies handling the job, better service and overall more satisfactory waste pickup will result due to the competition of various companies. Unlike the government, if a private buisness fails, he is finished, the current law allows government agencies to remain despite their incompetence. |
Proposals
Article 1

Old value:: The government is responsible for waste disposal.
Current: The government is responsible for waste disposal.

Message | Allow some private companies to start taking over, even though they are regulated it is better then a government monopoly on certain industries. |

Message | "The companies can provide more employment, and better wages then the government can provide." - What makes you believe that? Why would private companies provide better wages? They're all competing for labour, whether those companies be public or private, and as such the wages tend to show that. "With private waste disposal companies handling the job, better service and overall more satisfactory waste pickup will result due to the competition of various companies." - No, you're making the assumption that a private company will do a better job. Competition does not guarantee better services, and Government providing those services, especially in the disposal of waste, guarantees those services, something that cannot be done with privatisation. "Unlike the government, if a private buisness fails, he is finished, the current law allows government agencies to remain despite their incompetence." - Yes, if a private business fails, it is finished...what's your point? Just because they will fail if their incompetent does not mean they won't be incompentent. Just like because something is owned by the Government does not mean it will be incompetent, it could well be providing an excellent service at a fair price, as yet we have no data to disprove that fact so please don't make up points, especially within bill descriptors, in order to stir up fear. We don't do it in mixed economy bills as there is no need, why do you feel the need to do it in private bills, unless you feel your position is far more tenuous than you would like us to believe. |
