Bill: A Peaceful Return to the Republic
Details
Submitted by[?]: Bismarckian National Resistance (BNR)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2863
Description[?]:
The recent attempted coup by the Bismarckian Republican Resistance (BRR) has failed, but not without having an affect on public opinion. Even Unity!, a party long in line with the monarchy, has become a supporter of the republican struggle. Theodoros Waltoona, former HoG of Yishelem and National Chairman of the BRR, recently made this public statement, "The BRR regrets and apologizes for its senseless and violent attack on the Royal Palace. Bismarckian militias fired upon the building without my orders; the presence of the militias was meant only to be a scare tactic. However, we must continue moving forward with our struggle for the republic - too long have the people of Yishelem been living less freely than possible under the monarchy. We are in full support of a bloodless transition from monarchy to republic, and have voted yes on Unity's new bill. Soon, there will be some tension in the nation between natives and Luthoris. Let it be known that no "death squads," as they have been theoretically named in the media, will be of Bismarckian bent. Any BRR member found to be engaging in atrocities against Luthoris will be banned from the party, for life, and will be turned over to the proper authorities. Members of other parties found to be engaging in atrocities by members of the BRR will be summarily put under citizens' arrest and turned over to the proper authorities. Let us have a peaceful return to the republic. Thank you." Resolution Articles of this Bill: Article 1: Any persons accused of being members of "death squads," or otherwise engaging in atrocities against Luthoris or any other foreign nationals during the transition period from monarchy to republic, shall be put on trial and, if found guilty, shall be sentenced to life imprisonment with a chance for parole only after 30 years or because of serious illness. Article 2: Any persons accused of atrocities against the former royal family, former nobles, or former members of the monarchic government shall be put on trial and, if found guilty, shall be sentenced to life imprisonment with a chance for parole only after 30 years or because of serious illness. |

Message | OOC: You know, you could save yourself from being invaded by just calling for an elected Executive position like Alduria has had when it is not in Rebellion. Alduria had the HoS, the Emperor represented by the Viceroy, the HoG, who ran the leg., and it had an Executive, who was elected and served as HoS basically for the nation. This way, you are still serveing the Empire, you still are techincally under the Emperor and you can still have an elected offical. This also saves Yishelem having to go back to just the coner which will only lead up to a massive build up of arms. Or You could also just do an elected Viceroy, you would have to swear to serve the Emperor, but basically you would be granted 2nd Class State Status instead of 3rd. In other words, you are not a colony/vassal state anymore, but not yet quite equal to Alduria and Luthori. This is really not that big of a deal currently, but the new Terran Empire Constitution that I am writting will talk about this. Just a few things to think about. For lets be serious, how would a nation that has been under Luthori control for this long rise up and declare a Republic for no reason. Hell even the USA was still toasting to the King of England until almost halfway through the Rev. War. Considering the fact that the King, who does not live in Yishelem but in Luthori, has basically allowed the people to rule themselves as they please it does seem unlikely. Anyway, that was my two cents. Just options that would make everyone happy and would save me a lot of trouble from having to send troops and retaking this place. Let us just be friends, work together and build the Terran Empire together. -Duke Matthus |

Message | Let's break the fourth wall here; this is a game, in which roleplaying technically does not effect laws that can be passed. You can declare war, but you can't, as it is not a game feature. I know a lot of people enjoy roleplaying and all that, but if we feel like declaring a republic, let us. That's roleplaying - it might make stuff interesting. Nation crashing to simulate "war" as realistically as possible won't work well, I'll tell you, as I'm sure you're aware there's a limit on the # of parties. That's just my two cents. |

Message | OOC: Beiteynu voluntarily rejected its own independance by signing the Treaty of Yishelem and passing the Yishelem Incorporation Act, in full knowledge and acceptance that they would be at war if the conditions of either are breached. This act is a breach of those codntitions that were accepted by your parliament, and thus are binding. You can expect to be invaded as soon as this passes. IC: This petty rebellion against His Majesty's will not be tolerated, the rebellion will be crushed and the rebels hung, drawn and quartered. |

Message | Out of Character: Well, RP warfare would be interesting. I haven't done that in years, and basically there is nothing interesting going on on terra outside KCCP right now. So, I say we should go for this invasion then. |

Message | OOC: I am not Outsider sir, I refounded Yishelem for Luthori. The Knight's of St. Rchard, thank you very much. You also seem to forget that the rule only applies to new parties you can have 100 old parties in a nation at one time, and we have plenty inactive ones there in Yishelem to retake it. Really we are not against you becoming a Republic, an elected Viceroy keeps the tradition and culture and history and the fun for all. You will leave or you will fall in the end and we will simply rebuild what we lost. IC: All that has been accomplished by this is pushing the Kingdom back to the old lands it had before the take over. So really it solved nothing. Why not work together in harmony for the greater good of your nation not be divided on such a petty issue. Yishelem will still exist in the end, the only difference will be is that it will be behind a wall again like it was and it will prosper while your new republic struggles. The old Kingdom will be guarded by thousands of native colonial troops and Imperial Legions. You can not say it does not exist for it does, and you can not get rid of it for you would kill your own people. So why do this, why not meet half way, be the bigger person and do what is good for the nation and not just yourself. For in the enjd you are only setting yourself up for civil wr and death, and it is never worth it. |

Message | OOC: What kind of resolution/bill would have to be passed to have this sort of Viceroy and sort-of republic relationship? |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
