| "As Tyrants march from abroad to invade our motherland, it becomes apparent that the aims and goals of the Republic must be made clear, so that men may know what they are fighting to defend. In a single sentence the entirety of our hopes and belief in the revolution can be summed up: 'Man is man, and no-one is more'. The Luthor may set themlseves up as free under a King, however the truth is that the very institution of hereditary rule inherently denies the most basic of principles; that all men are created equal. No one by birth could have the right to set up his own family in perpetual preference to all others for ever. As while as individuals they may not all act as tyrants and murderers, and may, in fact, have several of the necessary qualities to provide for a stable rule, his descendants most certainly do not inherit them. Why then, by birth, should a King be destined to rule while qualified men are forced to do nothing but serve? What we strive for comes from this: the creation of equality among men, and the protection of their right to peaceful liberty- a liberty that cannot be snatched away by foreign whims, but that is protected in the hearts of men. It is heartening to see how many will already risk their lives to defend these values. In this city, where the the battle between Loyalists and Republicans remains at its most ferocious, thousands of men do take up arms to defend values that, having lived most of their life being hidden from them, they would now choose to die than give those rights up. To you gathered here today, my message is simple; honour these men in the only proper way; by avenging them or joining them. Here in Yishalem the battle for the very heart and soul of our Republic, for our rights to our inalienable liberties, has begun. It is being fought from street by street. Know that all over our nation your actions will inspire, that the war of liberty against tyranny begins here, with you. Do not yield to them even an inch, until their impure blood does overflow in our gutters." -David Wells, outside the National Parliament, Republican-held Yishalem.
