Message | We can not understand how keeping a wild animal, such as a squirrel, as a household pet is a problem. We agree that endangered animals should not be kept as domestic pets but this is governed under a different law. We must dissent and vote "No". |

Message | But imagine what would happen if everyone took home a wild animal - the ecological system would be disrupted and chances are the animals would suffer detrimental psychological effects. Also, many wild animals carry diseases that can potentially be lethal if in contact with humans. There are too many unpredictabe consequences for the government to ignore or practically regulate; hence, the best way is simply to disallow the ownership of wild animals as pets. Of course, this legislation targets only those who aim to keep wild animals as pets. If a rancher wishes to domesticate a horse or something like that, and has the proper tools and facilities to maintain the well-being of the animal and to prevent the spread of diseases, then the possibility is still there. |
