Bill: Arcology Subsidy Act of 2885
Details
Submitted by[?]: House Lusk-Nat'l Syndicalist Party (UM)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2886
Description[?]:
This act will subsidize the construction of arcologies, giant buildings that solve the overpopulation crisis by massively increasing density. Currently, the only supplier of such buildings is Axminster Arcology, a Lusk subsidiary. We propose that the state fund up to 50% of construction and land-acquisition costs for a program of arcology construction overseen by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, justified by the huge savings in infrastructure that will be created by the construction of such structures. A set of arcologies housing a minimum of two million people each are to built in each recognized conurbation in Hutori by 2900. |

Message | Mr Speaker, we cannot support this bill. These constructions are monstrous and, whilst it puts a roof over heads, it is an affront to traditional family units. |

Message | Mr Speaker, the gentleman is mistaken. Nobody will be forced to move into an arcology, but we imagine that enough people will to fill them entirely. They will be cities unto themselves— ecological, futuristic cities unto themselves. |
