Message | We agree with this. In this respect, why should any profits made by a religion be exempt from taxation? We don't exempt individuals or companies so we fail to see any difference. Charitable donations aren't taxed, so any good work can still go ahead. It merely brings the same rules for everybody. We would also point out that the State still has no intervention in the acts or operation of religions, merely treats them the same as any other operation. We support. |

Message | It is silly to tax religions. Most of the profit of the religions is put back into the community, with the only exceptions being the clergy and any personnel involved with the church, whose incomes are taxable anyways. There is no need to tax the religion itself. |

Message | "Most of the profit of the religions is put back into the community," - Most of the profit could be put back into the community, not is. A large religious institution, in the eyes of the Party, is no different from any other business. They gain large incomes, pay their workers (in this instance the clergy) and use their profits in order to gain a larger share of the market (in this instance, which God is the true one). We see no reason that they be treated any different to any other operation, but as is pointed out above, any charitable donations will not be taxed and so this money can still be used altruistically. The State does not have any involvement in religion, nor should, and as such should not give it any advantages that no other groups recieve. |

Message | I think i'll actually vote yes. I remembered about tele-evangelists and the millions in profit they make (Pat Robinson etc....) |
