Description[?]:
The PUUO wishes to change the following bills in order to protect the rights of animals better: - The use of animals in the cosmetics industry. Cosmetics are a luxury product, not a life-saving product. Therefore, the PUUO finds it incredible that the use of lab animals is still allowed in the cosmetics industry in Rutania, while there are numerous alternatives available. For those who don't know it, the animals are used to test whether a product irritates the eyes (Warning, image may be shocking - http://www.teleac.nl/mmbase/images/2013334), the skin (Warning, image may be shocking -http://www.gaia.be/ned/contentimage/illustraties/dierproeven3.jpg), or lots of other very interesting uses. Nevertheless, alternatives that aren't animal-unfriendly are available and used. If Rutania wants to be known as a civilized country, we can no longer tolerate this kind of cruelty. We want to stress that at this moment the PUUO is not against the use of animals in the pharmaceutical industry, since no economically viable alternatives are available there, and the development of drugs is a matter of life or death to our population. - Wild animals An interesting word in the term "wild animal" is "wild". The dictionary describes this word as "living in a state of nature; not tamed or domesticated". By definition wild animals aren't pets, and shouldn't be kept as pets for 2 reasons: the well-being of the animal which is far better of in its natural environment or in a zoo where professionals can give them an environment they deserve; and the safety of the Rutanian population. Since my neighbour bought himself a black panter, I can no longer let my children play outside alone, or let the dog have a walk through the garden. Furthermore, the current legislation has opened the door for abuse by pet shops who only care about their profits. Last week my 76-year old grandmother went to the pet shop to buy herself a small dog to keep her company, but the shop owner sold her a very expensive dingo! The PUUO demands that the unneeded abuse of animals stops, and asks other parties to support this bill. |
