Message | Madam Speaker, what an outrageous set of proposals. 89% of this nation drink alcohol at least once a week. 42% smoke regularly. Whilst the population is aware of the risks involved with both of these activities, to suggest they should be outlawed is ludicrous. The citizens of this country exercise free choice in the matter. Madam Speaker, as far as I am aware, the only local governments that have imposed complete tobacco and alcohol bans on their populations are the FFF-controlled Ulfried in Adelia and the HNP-FFF-Prohibitionist Party coalition that rule North Sutton. Madam Speaker, were this bill to pass major industries in the country would grind to a halt, people's leisure styles would be infringed upon by the state, and the people would rebel in a way that perhaps more important civil liberty issues such as adoption and abortion would not compel them to do. Madam Speaker, I am reluctant to say that but it is true. Furthermore, Madam Speaker, my friend and colleague the Rt Hon Edward Hammond tells me that Mr Fortunato himself is regularly seen smoking a pipe in the smoking rooms of the parliamentary restaurants. |

Message | Madam Speaker, while I cannot vouch for the rumor that Mr Fortunato is a smoker himself-- it seems unlikely to me-- we agree with the honorable member's sentiments concerning these propositions. Tobacco processing is one of the few continuing industries in an otherwise-isolated and backwards corner of the world that is low on natural resources and has half the country encased in ice three months each year. While we cannot grow it ourselves, the vast cigarette factories in the Adel valley just minutes away by bullet train from this very building are a testament to the continuing hope of the Hutori race for prosperity. |

Message | Madam Speaker, we agree with Mr Fortunato on this hard stance on drug use. We do not want our nation poisoned with the influence of drugs. |
