Details
Submitted by[?]: House Lusk-Nat'l Syndicalist Party (UM)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2906
Description[?]:
Every so often, the Axminster Corporation, the private-intelligence service of House Lusk, submits a "population survey"-- a listing of important characteristics about the population-- to the people and parliament of this land as a public service. The last population survey can be found here: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=275951 . Parties are welcome to make comments on the bill. The new one is as follows: ETHNICITY Over the past thirty years, the ethnic makeup has remained more or less constant, except for a low birthrate of Telamonese and Jews and an increased number of Davostani refugees. Ethnic groups are listed with their traditional religions and languages. Hutors 65% (Lutheran; Luthori) Dutchmen 10% (Lutheran; Dutch) Jews 7% (Jewish; Hebrew) Mashacara 5% (Aboriginal/Lutheran; Mashacara) Telamonese 5% (Orthodox; Telamonese) Davostanis 3% (Catholic; Spanish/French) Selucian Lutherans 1% (Lutheran; Latin) Other 4% (Various; Various) RELIGION In times of turbulence, people turn to religion. The growth of Swedenborgianism in Adelia is reflected in this chart, with the sect receiving its own line for the first time. 28% Lutheran 12% Catholic 9% Non-Lutheran Protestant 5% Jewish 2% Swedenborgian 2% Other 22% Atheist 20% agnostic or non-aligned. LANGUAGE A new category, this chart determines how many people speak a given language at a native or near-native level. Obviously, since people are capable of speaking more than one language, the percentages won't add up at all. 96% Luthori 12% Dutch 10% Telamonese 9% Mashacara languages 8% Spanish or French 5% Selucian Latin 4% Suddonese 3% Hulstrian or Dundorfian 2% Majaratan Languages (Hebrew, Arabic, etc) 12% Another language |

Message | Madam Speaker, given the fact that sects are illegal, we are surprised that a sect is recognised in an official report. |

Message | Madam Speaker, "sect" is merely a generic term for any small fraction of a religion. The groups that are banned are mostly foreign organizations as far as we understand. The New Church groups-- commonly called Swedenborgians-- are, for the most part, completely legal, recognized religions according to the Ministry of Education and Culture. |

Message | Madam Speaker, one other point is that the people of the Isle of Sutton speak the ancient language of "Suddonese". Although its usage dwindled, there was something of a revival in the 80s and these days one can hardly go anywhere on the island without either seeing signs in the language or entering a pub where everybody speaks it. Madam Speaker, if almost all inhabitants of the island speak the language, and relatives dispersed around Hutori will have some grasp of it, as well many students of the Universities of Roccato, Sutton and Athlorcaea, we would have thought that it would be recognised in this report. |

Message | Madam Speaker, we've chosen to include Suddonese, although by most accounts it is a creole of Luthori and a local Mashacara language called Gaman. |
