Message | Rt Hon Margaret Moore MP, Finance Secretary: Madam Speaker, this tax proposal will ensure that our lowest earners are tax exempt. It will cut 2% of the lower and higher rates of income tax whilst the middle band shall stay the same. However, Madam Speaker, the threshold for the middle rate shall be increased by 5,000 HLR, meaning that millions more workers shall fall into the lower band. Madam Speaker, this tax proposal shall ensure that individuals get to keep more of their money, it shall make the tax bands properly progressive, and it shall continue to encourage aspiration. I commend this proposal to the House. |
