Bill: Budget Proposal for the 2911 Fiscal Year
Details
Submitted by[?]: Federalist Party of Vanuku
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2911
Description[?]:
Members of the Assemblage, My office has put together the following budget to reflect the current status of our nation. The goal of this budget is to help strengthen our currency and to reduce waste. The Defense budget has been reduced because we are not at war and as of this proposal are not planning on going to war. My own department is taking a funding reduction also because we can operate at the same levels with a small budget. Please keep in mind that this is just for ONE fiscal year and if changes need to be made they can be made. Thank you, Jon Hendriks Minister of Finance |

Message | We would vote no, because it is unclear which functions would be decreased and or how they would be replaced. With such a huge decrease for internal affairs and defense same time, the power structures of the state would end up in a very bad state. |

Message | The LDP applauds any cut in internal expenditure such as this. We will vote in favour of this proposal - at least symbolically - knowing that it will not actually pass. We do have a severe concern, however, and that is regarding the significant decrease in the investment of defense. In the eyes of the LDP, protection of this nation and its people is the most vital aspect of Government and we need to maintain its safety into the future. We may not be at war, but there is no guarantee it will not happen in the future. We should be using this time of stability to ensure that we will be better defended in the unfortunate instance we were to be attacked. If we decrease defense expenditure now, we will look to be an easy target. We hope that the FPV will take this into consideration in future budget proposals. |
