Message | Nope, parents which took the responsibility to bring a child into the world should have to ensure its access to the most basic of education |

Message | ...education is still free for those who can't afford it(vouchers), this merely means that parents who want their kids to be say...a musician, can keep their kids from goignt o school and practicing their trade all day. |

Message | What about what children want and what is in their best interests. A balanced education is best for the development of a balanced human being. |

Message | This is where bill descriptions and debate are important. We would support this bill if it functioned as an 'opt out' thing, ie,as long as it could be demonstrated that the child wasn't going to lie on a couch playing PS2 until they're of working age. We have no problems with people chosing their own path, which from the JCP's example, we believe is the intent of the bill. But young children deserve to be set off down -some- path that would be beneficial to them, until they are ready to make their own choices on how to continue. The JLSP is a strong supporter of rights of children, and we believe many people underestimate their abilities to conduct themselves. We also support personal choice. But we recognise that until people are fully able to make such choices (such as in the cases of very young children), they should be provided with a means of ensuring when they come to make a choice, including the continuation of their schooling, they're in the best possible position to do so. |

Message | Surely home school fills the gap between school and another path. |
