Bill: Military Ship and Aircraft Naming Act of 2914

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bismarckian National Resistance (BNR)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2915

Description[?]:

For logistical and cultural reasons, the BNR proposes naming each ship that we have purchased (under the Materiel Purchasing Act of 2911, in Accordance with the Census of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth and Fixation of Numbers Act [http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=284810]) and already had in our possession, and making up a Beiteynuese name for each class of ship and aircraft we have purchased.

Article 1: 1) The official ship prefix of National Navy of the Commonwealth ships shall be BNS (Beiteynuese Naval Ship). This also applies to submarines. 2) The official aircraft prefix of National Air Force of the Commonwealth aircraft shall be NAFC (National Air Force of the Commonwealth). 3) The official prefix of National Navy of the Commonwealth aircraft shall be NNCA (National Navy of the Commonwealth Aircraft).

Article 2: The names of ships, aircraft classes, and ship classes may be changed by a two-thirds majority vote in the Parliament of the Commonwealth. Guidelines for naming (these do not need to followed, but apply to the naming of the vessels and aircraft named herein): Aircraft class names are usually metaphors for their function. Aircraft carriers should be named really clever or important names, like BNS Aerie, BNS Beiteynu, BNS Yishalem, etc. (Aerie-class). Submarines should be named for historically important people, events, groups, or political parties (David I-class). Missile cruisers should be named for geographic locales or features that are within/near/important to Beiteynu (Birahteynu-class). Destroyers should be named something indicating achievement or skill (Pinnacle-class), like BNS Pinnacle or BNS Perseverance. Support vessels should be named something indicating support or camaraderie (Benefactor-class), like BNS Compatriot or BNS Camaraderie, or after a seabird (Seabird-class), like BNS Kingfisher. Ship classes should be named for their class flagship.
