Bill: Citizenship and Nationality Reform Act 2914

Details

Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2921

Description[?]:

The Freedom Party would like to bring to the Parliaments attention again the matter of Citizenship and Nationality for new Rutanians. At present the law states that any person sitting a test can become a national of Rutania but any person of any nationality will be granted citizenship without question.

Freedom seek to fix these irresponsible laws to make becoming a Rutanian National and Citizen actually carry some value.

Freedom therefore proposes that the law on becoming a national be changed to read:
o Only those born in this country or to nationals receive nationality.

Freedom also propoes that the law on citizenship be changed to read:
o Citizenship is gained by passing a qualifying exam.

Freedom also believes the law on issuing passports requires review. At present Rutania gives out Passports on demand, for any reasn, to it's nationals. Needless to say we must have security checks to ensure the people are who they say they are, are not currently serving a sentence which requires reporting to the police or people who present a danger to others; for serious medical reasons or for known international criminal links for example.

Freedom proposes this law be changed to read:
o The nation issues passports to nationals after an invasive security check.
