Bill: Economic Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Libertarian Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2927

Description[?]:

Telamon needs reform in regards to its economy. These changes will allow the economy to grow and will lower the unemployment rate.

Why a Salary Cap?

If you can wrap your minds around it, when you impose a salary cap you keep people who want to start businesses and such from aiming toward anything higher than the cap. The reason why people create businesses is because they want to have better lives, if you take away the salary cap, people will work even harder to grow their businesses, which means more jobs and a growing economy.

Why lower the Luxury Goods tax?

This will encourage more spending on the part of the rich, which means eventually the government gets more tax revenue because more is being bought. This purchasing of luxury goods such as yachts, limousines, and mansions will also create a plethora of jobs. For instance, in the United States, during the recession, there was actually a boom in yacht sales. Now you may say "Those rich people are so greedy and self centered" the truth is that when they ordered those yachts they provided the means for the yacht company to keep its workers and in some cases to hire more workers. More workers means a bigger economy and for those of you worried about the budget, more taxpayers.

Why the increase in sales tax?

This is a temporary offset to the lost revenue.

Why cut in corporation tax?
This will allow the corporation to concentrate on growth and will lower the price of the products they produced. Taxing corporations more hurts the middle and lower class because the corporations will just jack up the price to cover the amount they lost due to taxes. If you cut taxes they will lower the prices (common sense if you want to stay competitive and attract the most customers), they will also have more money to expand and hire more workers.

Some of you might not like this bill because you think corporations are bad and rich people are bad so we should tax them and punish them. But you must think about how this affects everyone. Like and earthquake that can stir a tsunami, so can punishing the rich and corporations in a way punish the middle and lower class people.

MessageI would like the tax on essential goods to stay at 0, and then reduce the deduction rate of the other taxes to compensate but I am fine with the proposal as is.

MessageI am in favor of Article 1. I am not sure for Article 2 or 3. We must check the budget to make sure that we won't go into a deficit.

MessageWe should cut spending and cut taxes. The lowering of taxes allows businesses to flourish and for new ones to be started. This will also lower the unemployment rate and will down the road increase government revenues because there will be more business paying taxes and more employed people paying taxes.
