Bill: Liberty Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Libertarian Party of Darnussia

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2918

Description[?]:

When a patient is in a situation where they are guaranteed to die anyways, it is absolutely pointless to waste any medical treatment on them. Hell, in many situations you may be causing the patient to go through an enormous amount of suffereing which is completely unecessary. Its bad enough that the most liberating option is ``with consent from the patient AND the treating doctor``. What if the doctor was some guy who thinks you should always do everything possible, in absolutely every situation, to keep everyone alive, as long as possible. This is especially a problem when you have people in their 80`s hooked up to some drug that is just keeping them alive. It is a complete waste of resources, and we would argue that it is actually wrong, because you are extending the persons life beyond what it woud naturally extend to.

MessageThe patient holds the capability to avoid treatment. They don't need to go into surgery without consent. However, you are a fool if you believe a doctor's job is to kill.

MessageThe point being, if someone wants to let themselves die, doctors shoudn`t have the power to force them to live.
