Message | Mr. Speaker, We vehemently oppose Articles 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The people are responsible for knowing how to use a product before they actually use it. If accidents occur because of their lack of knowledge, tough luck. The corporations are not responsible, in our view. Of course, the people are allowed to sue them for liability and/or negligence. Regarding Articles 2 and 4; how dare the government even attempt to nationalize any industry. It would kill our economy and GDP, destroying our laissez-faire system. Article 6 is purely regulating the food industry, and is a direct violation of the laissez-faire system. Article 7 has been discussed in another bill and we shall say what we have already said, prisoners are in prison to repay their debt to society, not for society to pay for their education. Article 8 is directly violating the people's right to live wherever they please. In certain areas, gated communities have been put up to preserve culture and a certain way of life. Destroying the gated communities would be like destroying the Holy Empire itself. Article 9 is also an attempt to regulate the logging industry, which we again oppose. Now, we do agree with Articles 3, 5, and 10. The endangered animals do need protection until they can sustain themselves as a large population. That way, industries may use these animals to create products of value. Article 5 will ensure the safety and security of the Holy Empire. Article 10 will preserve the health of His Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty's people, but we simply ask that it only eliminates the sale of harmful tobacco as opposed to the safe tobacco. We yield. |
