Message | Ironically, through History, anachists usally aligned themselves with the far left (e.g. "Anarcho-tradunionism", "Libertarian Communism") and attempted terrorist attacks against conservative politicians.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederaci%C3%B3n_Nacional_del_Trabajo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_anarchism That's why I prefer the four variable analysis rather than the traditional left-right divission. Thus, we can make four quarters: Authoritarsm ( - economic freedom, - social permissive). Extreme version: Totalitarism. (Ex: Stalin, Hitler, Ancien Regime) Conservatives (+ economic, - social) (Ex: Republican Party, European Popular Party [though closer to the center) Extreme: Corporate State. Social Democracy (- economic , + social) (Ex: Democrats [though closer to the center], European Socialist Party) Extreme: Socialism Libertarianism: (+ economic, + social) Laissez faire, laissez passer policies. Small parties defined as "liberals" (in EU) or "libetarians" (US). Extreme: Anarchism. I feel that this suits better our system. |

Message | No... Anarchs are the total lack of government. Conservatives believe in limited government. Liberals like regulated things, and Communists thinks the government should control and own everything. ~Hope~ |

Message | Well, what I put it's just one of the 'a posteriori' divisions that you can make. It wasn't made by e, but by an American author. In reality it's like a big continuum and some people may make up their own sincretist systems. Anyway, I prefer to base it in two or variables than in one (like you) I'll give you an example. What is a conservative? This man is a monarchist. Traditionalist, old-fashion European-style. And old-school monarchist. Very religious and traditionalist, of course. He thinks of himself as a conservative because he believes in old traditions. Does he support a limited goverment? 'No way!' he says 'Goverment represents the Nation and the Nation represents our traditions. The King and the Church must have limitless power. THis other man lives in a small American town inland. He's a self-made man who's struggled to keep his small bussines. The bussines goes well but he feels that he's being too taxed by the goverment. In fact he could have a more prosper bussines ifhe didn't have to pay taxes. Just like the other fellow, hes religious and when sits upon the bench of the church he thinks about his ancestors who fled from the Old World Religion Wars and concludes: "I like this country because you can have your own religion and you will be respected" I like to live my life undisturbed by the goverment. So, who's the conservative? The Conservative is always the one who wants to keep the statu quo, the stablisment, the oldest and inner values of a given society. So, being conservative is a broad concept. There are even Communist Conservators! In that sense the Forte Party is very conservative because he¡s trying to restore the monarchy. You are conservative for American standards but some politicians in Europe who are following the doctrine of the American neocons call themselves "Liberals". In this context it means that they want to be "Free" from the goverment action. Well, it's a bit complex, I now. |
