MessageFinance Minister Gene Hunt :

Mr Speaker, unlike the CLP and their ex-UM colleagues, the Hutori National Party is prepared to give comprimise agreements towards its allies and friends. We have amended this Act in order to ensure its passage through Parliament and this Act will destroy a large section of the Capitalist system the CLP have strived to maintain. This will make a large proportion of the economy under my control as the Finance Minister and I as well as my HNP colleages will make sure these reforms are implemented properly and will benefit the working class people at the expense of the CLP supporters in the Upper classes and extremel wealthy elite.

MessageMr Speaker, a rare admission from the HNP. This is about control. It takes control out of the hands of every single person in this country and into the hands of one person - the Finance Secretary. Mr Speaker, as it stands, the people of this country can choose which bank to use. Banks compete to get the custom of the consumer. Now the people have no choice, and the state of the economy shall be dictated by the government rather than letting the consumers decide.

MessageFinance Minister Gene Hunt :

Mr Speaker, control of certain areas of the economy is neccessary in order to make it friendly to the people. The CLP would rather have banks that charge high interest rates etc as to exploit the people of hutori, wheras with our system one national bank that does not need to make profit, but is there to help the people with whatever they want. Even if we control some sectors of the economy at least, unlike the CLP, we will run the economy properly!

MessageMr Speaker, yet another HNP myth being peddled. In the CLP's Bank of Hutori Privatisation Act, we ensured that there was still an element of government oversight of the Bank, including the Bank of Hutori's right to set interest rates. Mr Speaker, the HNP should learn the facts before embarking on misguided policy.

MessageFinance Minister Gene Hunt :

Mr Speaker, clearly the CLP are forgetting whose opinion really counts here. With ourselves and the Civil Democrats holding office the CLP have become very bitter and angry in the short time they have been out of office. Their role of Leading the Opposition has become more of an annoyance rather than effective for them, cinsidering every HNP/CD non-constitutional reform has been passsed since we came to power. Perhaps the CLP should wait until they can make a difference before they open their mouths.

MessageMr Speaker, we have been elected by a great number of people, and their opinions should not be ignored. Whilst we acnowledge that a majority have voted for the sort of politics favoured by the HNP and the so-called "Democrats", we must remind the HNP that we are still the single largest party, something that they used to claim was the most important thing going for a party.

We are not bitter, nor are we angry. We are simply using Parliament to debate these issues, which is the proper role of this House. We simply indicated that, yet again, the HNP were not in full possession of the facts and that clarification was needed. The fact is that the Bank of Hutori, although private, still has the power to regulate interest rates. The problem is that the HNP do not seem to like being held to account.

MessageFinance Minister Gene Hunt :

Mr Speaker, perhaps the CLP would like to look at the election figures and then answer the question of - "Who recieved the most votes?" We do consider the largest party to be the most important thing but only if that party has a considerable difference in seats betweenthe largest ans second largest party. At the moment the CLP only have 1 more seat than us....so the effect of largest party is not as notable in this instance.

Whenever the CLP were in power, they did not like to be held to account.... this is simply a by-product of the job of governance. All parties regardless of perspective dislike being critisised by the opposition. The HNP is only in its first term of holding high office and we are still learning all the tricks of the trade. Once we become more accustomed to the holding of power i am sure that we will be more considerate to other parties.

Mr Speaker, despite our political differences the CLP are persistant on pointing out how the HNP is wrong and the CLP is right. We both aim for different thins so the CLPs perspective has been blinded by their own hypocrisy.

MessageMr Speaker, no matter how long we had been in power, we always debated the issues. We rarely agree with the HNP, but when they put forward opposition to our policies, we debated with them. That is a fact and something we are most definite about. Of course, when we debate, we are going to say we are right - that is what we have been elected to do, as has the HNP. However, it is still important for that debate to exist in Parliament, no matter how powerful a party is. That, Mr Speaker, is democracy.

Mr Speaker, the issue here is the regulation of the economy, of which the HNP is an advocate of. This regulation is necessary to protect the Hutorian people from the exploitive nature of the Capitalist system.

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer.
