MessageMr Speaker, this Act demonstrates exactly why the people should not have voted for these parties. This is nothing more than pure racism.

MessagePrime Minister Mervyn Bijai :

Mr Speaker, this Act simply protects the vested interests of over half the population of Hutori. The most recent population survey (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=282927) shows us that 65% of our population is the native Hutors. The HNP want to return stability to these peoples lives who have had to make way for government quotas to make up certian percentages of jobs go to ethnic minorities. This Act simply overturns the years of small ethnic groups getting jobs or advantages over the native Hutors simply on the grounds of race.

Whilst the CLP play the race card, the HNP is doing what is right for the vast majority of Hutori.

MessageMr Speaker, the government has never had quotas at all like the gentleman suggests, certainly never since the Restoration almost 100 years ago. The gentleman should retract his statement and put it on record that he is wrong in that regard. Every government that the CLP has worked in has had a colour-blind and ethnicity-blind approach.

MessagePrime Minister Mervyn Bijai :

Mr Speaker, i do not have to answer to any CLP statement especially such a fabricated and exaggerated one. Simple fact of this debate is that unlike the CLP, whos primary interests was the large businesses and their owners ours are the vast majority of the people of Hutori and the CLP know that we are right when we say this.

MessageMr Speaker, the statement is neither fabricated nor exaggerated - it is a mere statement of fact! The fact that the Prime Minister feels he does not have to answer to members of this House shows just why his constitutional reforms should not be enacted, because he has a scant regard for democracy, and despises accountability.

Regardless of whether or not we are the party of businessmen, which we would contest, it does not alter the fact that all governments that the CLP have been involved in have had a colour-blind approach to hiring. We are simply asking for the Prime Minister to acknowledge this or to present evidence to the contrary. It is a simple thing to do, and recognition that he was wrong would probably win the Prime Minister a couple of voters who admire honesty and modesty.

MessageInternal Affairs Minister Samuel Haskins :

Mr Speaker, the Prime Minister has decided not to continue participating in this debate and is angered at being portrayed as a racist by the CLP. The people can be assured that our PM is not anything of the sort. Fact is the CLP have to oppose everything we say because that is their role within the current system as Leaders of the Opposition. They can take the supposed "moral high ground" on these issues but it is us, the current Cabinet and Government which take and implement these tough decisions. The CLP meanwhile are sitting across the benches doing nothing!

MessageMr Speaker, we ask for one simple thing, that the HNP retract their statement that previous governments have discriminated against the Hutorian people in favour of minorities. We ask that they acknowledge that there has always been a colour-blind approach. It is a fairly simple request.

MessageInternal Affairs Minister Samuel Haskins :

Mr Speaker, the law has never stated that governments are required to discriminate against the Hutorian people but unfortunatley this is the way it has turned out. The HNP wants to formally make the link between the native Hutors and the state - after all these were the people who voted for the HNP so it is only natural that we do what is right for our mandate. The CLP voters are the wealthy who just want the CLP to maintain the same old systems so they can make a quick profit etc. Here is the HNP working with our electorate!

MessageMr Speaker, another myth that the HNP are peddling. The majority of the CLP's supporters are from lower economic backgrounds, not from the wealthy classes as is claimed. Yes, a lot of our support comes from the wealthy, but that is not our base. It is time the HNP acknowledged that some working classes do not support their agenda.

MessageFurthermore, Mr Speaker, the state should be representing all citizens, not just a certain part of the citizenship. Democracy includes looking out for minorities.

Mr Speaker, this state aims to maintain the best interests of this great Hutorian society and whilst unfortunate any area of society that fails to move with us, then unfortunatley we cannot meet their requirements.

MessageInternal Affairs Minister Samuel Haskins :

Mr Speaker, probably the first statement of honesty this Parliament has ever heard. Unlike the CLP the HNP will put its beliefs out into the open and allow the people to judge us by them, instead of whatever propaganda the CLP machine tells them.
