Message | Mr Speaker, this could lead to families having their homes taken away from them and only given 1HLR compensation. What a terrible place the government is taking this country to. |

Message | Prime Minister Mervyn Bijai : Mr Speaker, clearly this is scare-mongering of the highest order by the CLP member. The CLP is just trying to stir up fear and suspicion throughout the nation. This Eminent Domain Act has been brought in, not for the state to occupy every square-inch of Hutorian soil, but for the benefit of the people. It has been brought in to resolve issues such as the fully public healthcare system so we can seize private hospitals and use them for the benefit of everyone! Mr Speaker, the public can have a personal guarantee from me, their elected Prime Minister, that no-ones homes or family businesses will be seized by the HNP led government. |

Message | Mr Speaker, it is all very well the Prime Minister giving that guarantee now, and we should trust his guarantee. But he will not be Prime Minister forever. We don't know who will follow him and a Party even more despicable than his may enter government and form a majority. Were that to happen, then this law would open the door for exactly the sort of abuse that I have outlined. Can the Prime Minister honestly say that this bill could not one day lead to homes and personal possessions being taken over by the government? Mr Speaker, he cannot because the law will be open for the government to seize private property "for any reason", with comensation decided by the government. It is not scaremongering, Mr Speaker, but honesty. |

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar). |
