An Act to change the State's approach to religious organisations by recognising that religious organisations are non-profit organisations, and thus should not be taxed as companies, because they provide comfort, reflection (both confessional and philosophical) and spiritual guidance to large parts of the Rutanian population, and as many religious organisations are involved in charitable work and other valuable work for the community.

MessageTaxing religious organisations means not recognising their valuable work and, in fact, means condemning religion in its entirety.

MessageAlso, only recognised religions should not be taxed as otherwise ANYONE could start a company, call it a religious organisation, occasionally donate a bit of money to a real religious organisation and get away with lots of untaxed profit.

MessageI'm surprised that the godless RSDP should be on the side of organized religion here. Unfortunately for you, the LAP is also godless, and will not support this bill.

MessageWe are not on the side of organised religion, but unlike you we are not against it. We recognises that, in varying degrees, religion and spirituality forms an important part of the life of many Rutanians. Religious organisations can do valuable work, and mostly don't do it for profit, therefore they should not be taxed as companies..

MessageReligions are not recognised in Rutania, we dont interfere in the freedom of religion, hence all religions would still be taxed under this proposal.

Against.

MessageYou should really look up the definition of "recognised religions", it doesn't necessarily mean that the government picks some religions. ;-)

MessageSo you think that organisations which form a valuable part of our Rutanian culture and are involved in charitable work should be taxed just because they are religiously-inspired? Sounds to me like you're trying to abolish religion.

MessageDo you think someone should be allowed to run a business and call it a religious institution to avoid tax? I dont. The old legislation *already* says that only profit is taxed, so if an organisation is not-for-profit then it wont be taxed. The old legislation *already* says that charitable donations are not taxed. I really dont see your problem with this.

MessageWould you care to F'ing read legislation before proposing it? It LITERALLY states "Religions are treated as companies", thereby excluding all possibilities of a religious organisation being non-profit.

MessageYeah, but if they're a company that makes no profit, they won't have their profits taxed. The current law actually makes sure churches and charities are being efficient at giving their stuff away.

MessageThat is bullshit, they still have a lot of costs you know. What you're suggesting is that all religions should continuously lose money.

MessageRSDP. You are talking bullshit, you refuse to acknowledge that your arguments have been quashed and that if a religion makes no profit, it wont be taxed.

MessageAre you deaf? They have to choice but to make profit because the law currently treats them as a company!
