Message | Mr Speaker, this is an odd position to take. The HNP do not mind the flag being desecrated, but they cannot abide it being used by businesses. Surely, given their failure to ban foreign goods from being imported, they should not mind businesses expressing their Hutorian roots? Besides, Mr Speaker, this is about freedom of expression. The flag belongs to everybody. |

Message | Mr Speaker, if it was about freedom of expression, doesnt the CLP member believe that we would have tried to ban desecration outright as well? It is for that purpose of freedom of expression that we want to continue to allow those who want to desecrate the flag to do so. We do not want the flag being used on commercial grounds, that is all. |
Date | 15:10:48, May 12, 2010 CET | From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Flag Desecration Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, should products made here in Hutori not be allowed to wear our flag as a badge of pride, persuading consumers to buy Hutorian? The HNP proposal makes no sense! |
Date | 15:16:49, May 12, 2010 CET | From | Hutorian Conservative Party | To | Debating the Flag Desecration Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, companies have their own logos, and we do not want our national flag to be used as a method of advertisement for products. |
Date | 16:21:38, May 12, 2010 CET | From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Flag Desecration Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, well they might. But surely, Mr Speaker, the HNP would not begrudge a company putting a small flag on the back of their product to emphasise their pride in being a Hutorian industry? Surely they would not wish to make it more difficult for consumers to determine which product was made in Hutori? |
Date | 17:41:38, May 12, 2010 CET | From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Flag Desecration Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, We see absolutly no issue with the flag being used comercially. The flag is owned by the many, and shall be used by the many. We oppose, this proposal is absurd. |
