Message | Peter McCullum MP, HNP Leader, Mr Speaker, this Act has been scaled back by the Hutori National Party who previously had wanted all International Trade banned. We are now insisting that the government should put tafiffs and quotas on products that are already created by Hutorian factories and Hutorian farming etc. Whilst we will still import foreign products, we should put products made in Hutori first! |

Message | Mr Speaker, protectionism is not an answer. It leads our own industries into stagnation, makes prices higher for the consumer, leads to lower quality and lower competition. Furthermore, Mr Speaker, this sort of protectionism tends to affect poorer nations the most, keeping them in a poverty trap, unable to get out of it through trading with other nations. Mr Speaker, I urge all parties to vote against this bill. |
