MessageWe're going to try to pass some budget overhauls piecemeal. This is just the first round in a series of expected spending changes. This bill suggests two changes to the budget. Below we list our reasons for each:

1) Head of government has been increased to 50 million ALOs. The previous allotment for Head of Government was sufficient to cover salaries for the President and the Prime Minister, but not much more. The increased allotment is aimed at covering not only their salaries, but their support staffs, their security details, their travel expenses, their residences, etc. The Finance Ministry believes all these needs can be met for around 50 million ALOs per year.

2) The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has been reduced to 2.5 billion ALOs. The new Agriculture Minister reports that the Ministry currently only performs two functions: reporting on the agriculture sector, and maintaining emergency food stores. Aloria doesn't currently subsidize agriculture, resulting in a substantial surplus. That surplus is being eliminated, and will be reallocated elsewhere.

In the future, we intend to leave bills recommending changes in spending up for comment before submitting them to vote. The changes we're recommending here, however, are relatively minor. We're going to go ahead and submit this bill for a vote now.
