Message | The best way to lead our country out of recession is for higher taxation - this is the only way we get through this turbulent time without cutting public spending. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We're out of recession. And no, it's not. Tax cuts work to stimulate consumption, more public spending, however, will just make us tax the private consumption to finance public. It's the broken window all over again. |

Message | Then why, Mr Speaker, are we still running a deficit? Economic forecasts say we are still -57,643,287,779 JAK, and until we turn this round these measures are needed. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, "I must assure the representatives from the JLP that raising 1 trillion in revenues is not needed to close an completely insignificant budget deficit. We're out of a recession per definition wise, but that does not mean we can leave the economy on its own entirely. We believe cutting taxes is necessary to stimulate a bit more private consumption, and when consumption - which essentially drives this economy - is up and running, it might, I repeat, might be necessary to tax a bit more and spend a bit more. Levying more taxes in a time of difficulty is absolutely ludicrous and most economists would tell the honorable representative that. I would also like to refer the JLP's finance spokesman to the tax raises we passed on corporations and sales taxes, without the votes from the Labourites, of course. We're not particularly fond of income taxes, and will continue to keep income taxes low; but look into raising certain taxes on sales or corporations." |
