Bill: Modernisation of the Military Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dorvish Popular Front
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2030
Description[?]:
The current militia system is outdated and no longer effective. With the events in Davostan showcasing the threats on our borders we need to build a standing army. Dont get me wrong, this isnt a declaration of war or whatever, but we need to take precautions should this country ever invade us. Having our current puny militia makes us look a joke on the negotiating table and gives us no real say in international issues. We need an army now.
We propose making a standing army of 250,000 all voluntary, professional soldiers. How can any proud Dorvikian say no? |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | Their main party, the PWA is now proposing building nuclear weapons!! This is an obvious danger to our country, we must take these steps towards self-defense or face being overun by these communist Davostanis. |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | I have put this to the vote, there is no time to debate with these obvious acts of war commited by the Popular Workers Party. The only way to beat them is to stand up to them, appeasing will not work! |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | The PWA said this 'Mip hop have you seen the bills in Dorvik? They want war, I want peace but i just think we should defend ourselves. i will never take this country to war unless we are directly invaded. The popular workers party is commited to peace, look at our nuclear disarmament bill. we just want a policy of isolationism' and then said this 'Nuclear weapons are the only way to proparly defend ourselves from the threats of our neighbours'. These arent the acts of a peacful nation. They said we are peaceful, we have no nukes and then proceeded to start a nuclear campaign. If this isnt an outright declaration of their intent to attack, I dont know what is. Maybe their flag draped over the National Assembly. |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | If we are in charge of foreign affairs, we will negotiate a settlement with the Davostani regime. Of course, we need a credible military to back us up or we will be a 'toothless tiger' so to speak. Appeasment is not the way!!! |

From | Noordelijk Bevrijding Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | Ah the war mongers grace the halls of parliament once again. Push us to the brink and you will be judged not by politicians but by the lives of those you have ruined, those who will suffer at the hands of bombs, while you sit in your cosy state funded home. I say you want war send yourself and your children. |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | The one problem I have with this game is idealistic fools who are delighted with the chance to go wild with a country. Use a bit of common sense and you will see with a bigger army our people are actually safer! We are not pushing for war, we simply recognise that war is, in some sad cases, inevitable and so it is better to be prepared and not have to use force than to be at the moment of peril and our only defences being flowers and tiedie t-shirts! |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | The militia is now impossible! The illegality of guns has made that system against the law! How can our only line of defence fight from jail cells? We need some form of defence it is ignorant to suggest we dont and at the moment we have none! How can anyone possibly vote no for this? |

From | Noordelijk Bevrijding Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | What is this threat you keep speaking of from Davostan, you are paranoid, you are determined to lead this nation to war. the sensible peoples of this nation should stand up and say to militirism and imperialism for we want peace. Our peoples must live their lives without fear of war. This bill simply sends a message to other countries that we are ready for a war. Before you vote yes i urge everyone to find a diplomatic soloution before the new far right pushes the button that kills millions. Todays empire, tommorows ashes. I stand as a member of humanity and call for opposition to the war preparations that will lead to no good. I say implement a system where the people can decide on this bill. We are being led blindly to destruction. |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | Your ability to totally miss the point and post tired, leftist rhetoric is quite astounding. Davostan passed a bill to make more nuclear weapons, and to increase their military by 50%, yet you encourage (in fact instigated) their re-arming. And, I have even congratulated the democratic parties of Davostan that prevented some of their more extreme bills being passed. Yes, you are right this bill will send a message we are no pushover and that we will not appease dictators like your 'friends' in the PWA! |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | Pushes the button? This isnt about nuclear weapons! This isnt even about Davostan, and we have never ever said we shouldnt try diplomacy. This moronic rhetoric of yours is always amusing, someone should published some. |

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the Modernisation of the Military Act | Message | Please understand, this act isnt about going to war, this act isnt about being aggressive, this act is simply due to the fact we no longer can legally run the militia - we need a standing army! |
