Message | Ok, I have a feeling I'm going to have to really come up with a good argument for this. This country is awash with guns but there is no real reason for a private citizen to have a gun. Here are the reasons for making them illegal: 1) Guns are weapons that are designed to kill other people, not hurt them but to kill them. They are not designed to protect people from others, no one should have the power to kill another person so easily. 2) While it is of course possible to kill a person without a gun, it is a great deal harder. 3) People can be irrational, emotional, drunk, high and have a gun, which obviously leads to problems. 4) Giving a person a gun gives them enormous power over others. 5) I have seen arguments that guns allow people to protect themselves from their government, in case it ever tries to become a dictatorship. If this ever happened with our country and the dictatorship had the support of the army, handguns would do little. Besides, history has shown that non-violent protest is more effective. 6) Guns create a paranoia and mistrust of neighbours and fellow citizens, people feel they must have a gun to "protect" themselves from others who have guns. The simple answer is: no one has a gun. I hope I have made a good argument against gun ownership, this is an issue the People's Equality Party believes in very strongly. |

Message | Yeah, you'll all probably support this bill. 6) Guns create a paranoia and mistrust of neighbours and fellow citizens, people feel they must have a gun to "protect" themselves from others who have guns. The simple answer is: no one has a gun. Im sorry, but they don't create paranoia in all people, you're just talking about guns nuts here. We do not agree with this bill, the law is already VERY strict on who gets guns, and who gets a license for them. |

Message | I cannot agree with this. Gun control doesn't help anything - in fact, gun control does nothing to statistically decrease violent crime. Yes, it does tend to decrease violent crime committed with a gun. But if criminals don't have guns, they'll pick up a knife. And when they have that knife, if they know the people that they are attacking won't have a gun to defend themselves, they're even more likely to commit their crime. I would like to take specific offense to: 2) While it is of course possible to kill a person without a gun, it is a great deal harder. This is false. It is no harder to jab your finger deeply into someone's eye socket than it is to shoot them with a pistol. The Libertarian Capitalist Party supports the right of the people to keep and bear arms for their own protection, and would never support a bill that would serve to take away that right. |

Message | Ok, try going on a killing rampage by jabbing your finger in someone's eye socket? Try going on a killing rampage with a shotgun or semi-automatic weapon? How many more people would be killed when using the gun? |

Message | Knifes, swords, particular Katantas. And if you want to go on a killing spree, chances are you'll know where to get guns anyway. And what about hunting? |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
