Bill: Removal of Phone Service Regulations Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Centrist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2945

Description[?]:

This is designed to open up the telecommunications market and encourage new providers to be formed. The rates will not spin out of control if the regulations are removed, thanks to the competition between the providers which will force them to have prices that make them affordable for the general public if they are to survive.

MessageNo, because if the rates a company is charging are extreme, they won't be able to sell their services. To survive in a more competitive market, providers will have to keep low rates if they are to avoid bankruptcy due to competition. Smaller companies will also have greater chances of survival if they are free to charge as needed, as the national cap might be too low for them to be financially sustainable. There is a possibility that only larger providers are viable with the current legislation, which reduces the number of options available for the customer and removes the pressure on them to assure good service and quality products.

MessageI agree with the DCP and the NCPA. Both have good points. The DCP's position however is a gamble. We are trusting the business will be fair in their pricies. However I will support because we must direct more freedom to business and give them a chance. Smaller Government.
