Bill: Energy Deregulation Act 2945
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Party of Solentia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2947
Description[?]:
As of today, Solentia requires by law that most energy has to come from nuclear energy. Since the predominant use of nuclear power can not be linked to ecological benefit in the long run and this piece of national overregulation produces unnecessary bureaucratic efforts and costs, we propose the withdrawal of governmental intervention on this issue. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on nuclear power.
Old value:: The government requires most energy to be generated by nuclear power.
Current: The government does not take any position on nuclear power.
Proposed: The government does not take any position on nuclear power.

Message | The Left Radicals support sustainable forms of energy generation and for this reason we'll support the SDP's proposed shift away from dependency on nuclear power generation. |
Date | 20:19:32, May 30, 2010 CET | From | Coalition for National Unity [CNU] | To | Debating the Energy Deregulation Act 2945 |
Message | "The Tories are greatly supportive of Nuclear energy and shall have to oppose this Act on the grounds that Solentia would be left with no great replacement energy supply." Jeremy Carlrow, Tory Energy and Evironment Spokesman. |
Date | 23:43:48, May 30, 2010 CET | From | Radical Nationalists | To | Debating the Energy Deregulation Act 2945 |
Message | Like the Tories, the Meritocrats support Nuclear energy fully, and see any attempt to alter this as detrimental to our future. Atomic power is security. |

Message | "Mr Carlrow and dear MS representative, while I appreciate your contribution to the debate, I doubt you argument is thought through well. We aren't abolishing nuclear power as it is. What we are proposing, is to rid the government of some unnecessary bureaucracy and over-regulation. Let us assume for the sake of argument that Solentia is dependent on nuclear power as you stated. Concerning this issue, the SDP has trust in the market to do what's right - it will favour nuclear power if this is the best option. It will certainly if nuclear power is the only one." - David Smith, SDP expert on trade and industry |

Message | "Tory policy is perfectly thought-through thank you Mr. Smith. We base on our policy on a rage of conciderations and need no advice from a party that would leave businesses open to use god-only-knows what methods of energy production." Jeremy Carlrow, Tory Energy and Environment Spokesman. |
Date | 13:06:48, May 31, 2010 CET | From | Social Democratic Party of Solentia | To | Debating the Energy Deregulation Act 2945 |
Message | "Solentian science is a quickly developing field - as we speak new forms of energy generation are being thought of and others are being optimized for practical use. If we regulate by law that most of our energy must be nuclear, we simply might be left off with a sub-optimal outcome. Certainly we have to set safety standards for energy generation. But as long as there is no scientific evidence that nuclear energy is our best option, we can't prescribe it to be our primary source of power" - Jehudi Edelweiss, SDP expert on science and technology "It's the year 2946 and Solentia still requires most of its power to come from nuclear energy - an ancient energy form. Its pros and cons have been debated already hundreds of years ago. This artifact of overregulation is injust and leaves us with a mediocre result. Now we don't know about the Tories, but the SDP is only content with the best for Solentia." - James Spader, chairman of the SDP |

Message | Social Democratic Party, it seems you just earned the support of the Utilitarian Party of Solentia. Although we are very supportive of nuclear energy, your arguments have proven an excellent point. The current situation is indeed an over-regulation and as long as the electricity is produced, more efficient methods might as well be discovered. We welcome your remarkable rhetoric talents; debate is the basis of politics. |
