MessageRt Hon Duke McCullum MP, Foreign Affairs Minister,

Madam Speaker, we want to ratify this treaty for blaitantly obvious reasons. Hutori is a respected nation throughout terra. We would not want to tarnish our national image by advocating the use of torture in Hutori. It is morally incorrect and we will not tolerate any use by police or military. The simple fact is that we do not want to be seen as a barbaric nation and this treaty ensures that no party may introduce any form of torture into Hutori.

MessageMadam Speaker, we oppose this bill. Let the House first of all remember that the NSC is the only Hutorian political party currently in existence that ever proposed the introduction of torture. It is almost as though they are using international law to control their own excesses.

Madam Speaker, the CLP believe passionately in national sovereignty, that decisions should not be made overseas. International law is futile and cannot control a thing. Furthermore, Madam Speaker, this parliament should not bind all future parliaments. I am confident that torture, slavery and the like would never be introduced in Hutori. Madam Speaker, international treaties should not bind this House.
