Bill: Title Renaming Act.2951
Details
Submitted by[?]: People's Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2952
Description[?]:
Article 1: We feel that currently "Presidential Representative" sounds slightly confusing. Although President, the title suggests that the President is in fact the Representative of the President. What we have proposed will clear the problem up. Article 2: "Assembly of the People" sounds too Communist or Socialist to us. We feel we have proposed a fair and balanced name. |

Message | Article 1: Why not just President of Vorona? There are a lot of islands in the world. Article 2: I believe the title Assembly of the People refers the legislative body itself, not to the place where they meet. So unless Palace means something other than a large palatial building, the name Palace of Parliament really wouldn't work. Why is "Assembly" communist or socialist? Schools have assemblies all the time. |

Message | As a new and relatively naive party, your party was not present when the nation's head of state was known as the "Chief of the Island". Of course Voronans will know what Island the title is referring to. We weren't referring only to "assembly", we were focusing more on the title as a whole, and "people". Many communist states claim to be for the "people", e.g. "people's republic" etc. |

Message | Would Head's of State from other islands take offense at our assuming such an auspicious title? President of Vorona is much simpler and representative to other nations. |

Message | The only other sovereign island nation is Keymon and Indrala, I am quite sure they would not be offended. It would be quite obvious "the Island" in Vorona's head of state's name is referring to Vorona. |

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
Random quote: "The moral justification of capitalism does not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve 'the common good.' It is true that capitalism does, if that catch-phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary consequence. The moral justification for capitalism lies in the fact that it is the only system consonant with man's rational nature, that it protects man's survival qua man, and that its ruling principle is justice." - Ayn Rand |
