MessageRt Hon Michael Price, CLP Defence Spokesman:

Madam Speaker, the gentleman opposite claims that "It's an important feature of a sovereign state to have a large stock of different weapons on hand". Never have I heard such nonsense. The most important feature of a sovereign state is to be able to provide effective defence of the realm, to ensure that the borders are secure and that the people shall not be subject to attack from outside invasion. Madam Speaker, that is the important feature, not the stockpiling of weapons. Madam Speaker, if the stockpiling of weapons secured the people against invasion then that would be a means to an end, not an end in itself. However, a massive arsenal does not protect the country and its sovereignty. If anything, Madam Speaker, it puts us in an even more precarious situation. Aggression is not welcomed by the international community.

Madam Speaker, I always ask those that suggest we are constantly to be attacked when the last time we had to mobilise our armed forces was? Madam Speaker, it was centuries ago. This country is entirely safe and our nuclear disarmament has never done us any harm. It is these moves to re-mobilise that will put us at danger as we begin to be regarded as a rogue state. Madam Speaker, this bill will put the people in danger.

MessageMadam Speaker, this will not see our nation become a rogue state. It will see our nation become one of the strongest and most militant states on Terra. Hutori will be feared and not seen as a joke as it was under the CLP.

Also, Madam Speaker, it seems that even with the absence of the UFD, the NSC can veto any CLP/Labour agreements. Thats a first for my party and im sure that the NSC/UFD coalition will dominate Hutorian politics for decades.

MessageMadam Speaker, it isn't a veto. It is a no vote. It could soon change and I would urge the party opposite not to become so complacent because they will be made to look like fools at some point in the future.

MessageMadam Speaker, the only fools here today are the CLP. Im surprised their Leader is an MP given their collapse as a party at the last election. We believe we can dominate Hutorian politics for a long time.

MessageMadam Speaker, maybe we are fools today. But, as I said, the NSC could be "fools at some point in the future". I thought that the NSC didn't like this game of political point scoring?

MessageOk then, shall we stop debating Madam Speaker? No, the NSC can say whatever it wants.

MessageMadam Speaker, the NSC really do come out with some strange statements. We have had a team of experts trying to decipher their latest statement and we just cannot come to any conclusion as to its relevance. Is the gentleman simply drunk? He veres from one argument to another with no consistency at all.

MessageMadam Speaker, if thats the case then do the CLP want us to stop debating completely?

MessageMadam Speaker, we do not want the NSC to stop debating at all. We just wish they would debate with a little more consistency and maturity.
