Bill: Change we need - a new king
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Forces of Decay

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2954
Description[?]:
It clearly is time for a change, time for a new monarch who represents the political change Hutori has gone through. A strong leader our country can be proud of, a king who does not fear the state's enemies and knows how to deal with them properly, should the need to do so arise. |

From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, the House of Hutori has served this country extremely well for more than a century now. Despite the many extreme parties that have been elected to this Parliament, the country has never experienced civil war and, apart from a period of terrorist attacks in the 2870s, the general population has experienced great peace. The country is largely united and harmonious, and much of this is thanks to the monarchy. It should not be deposed by a pretender. |

From | United Forces of Decay | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | ooc: As far as I remember Hutori has been completely destroyed by nuclear warheads in the 2400s oder 2500s. I don't know for sure what happened, 'cause I didn't play the game at this time, but a friend of mine told me about it. Hutori is, in fact, the only country in "Particracy" that has ever been completely destroyed by nuclear bombs. |

From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | OOC: I don't know about that but when I said "never experienced civil war", I meant under this monarchy. If Hutori was obliterated, that was just a ridiculous bit of role play that shouldn't have been pursued!! In the current historical accounts of Hutori, that has never been referenced. |

From | United Forces of Decay | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | ooc: I don't think it was a ridiculous bit of role play... It was carefully planned and involved the surrounding countries. I can get you the informations about these happenings if you want to. |

From | United Forces of Decay | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | The UFD are glad to see that their coalition partner supports them in this important matter! Let's hope that the people will vote for us again in the next elections, honoring the things we have done for them in the past years: creating a stronger state, a state every Hutorian can be proud of. |

From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, perhaps this bill will remind the government that they cannot do everything they desire. The CLP are not as irrelevant as they would have the people believe, for, with the PRLM, we have just prevented the installation of a religious dictatorship. |

From | Hutorian Conservative Party | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, a small victory for the smallest party. The failure of this Bill actually has very little impact - its more a statement of intent rather than actual policy. |

From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, no matter how hard they try, the government cannot downplay the significance of this. They have attempted to install an illegitimate dictator that would oppress the nation. They have been thwarted in their attempts. |

From | Hutorian Conservative Party | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, the Head-of-State has no real power to speak of. He is a figurehead not a policy maker. The CLP consider this a victory? Well, they do only have 30 seats so must be regarded as a small party and this is a small victory for a small party. The coalition will go on, despite this small setback and we will form our totalitarian state, that the people have given their votes for. |

From | Conservative-Libertarian Party (UM) | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | Madam Speaker, I do not believe the people have ever voted in favour of the formation of a "totalitarian state". Not once was that advocated in the election campaign and the party opposite should start speaking with honesty. The party should change its name back to the original and soon they will see supporters flow away.
Madam Speaker, of course this is a victory, because we have kept the constitutional monarchy. We don't want a monarchy with masses of power, hence the victory that this is. |

From | Hutorian Conservative Party | To | Debating the Change we need - a new king | Message | No Madam Speaker, we are not stuck in the past like the CLP and will not revert to the Hutori National Party. The CLP should try to defeat the NSC and UFD on our policy reforms and see how far that gets them. There is no real need for a NSC/UFD sponsored Monarch! The current one just stands by anyway and lets us do what we want! |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
